A Valentines Birthday

On Friday morning I awoke bright eyed and bushy haired.
After eventually unwrapping myself from my thick duvet nest, I clambered out of my bed, made myself a cup of tea and eagerly opened the pile of cards on my bedside table that I had been eyeing up for the past two days.

Yep, that is right. The big day had finally arrived and I was no longer a teenager.
Hello the big 2-0.

The post man also had a little parcel waiting for me...

Everyone needs a birthday cake after all!

I had a quiet, relaxed morning before picking up my good friend Anna from the train station.
Some serious shopping was about to go down!

Unfortunately the shops were a bit dull and we gave up after a while with grumbling stomachs. The last time Anna visited me in Leeds we went to Pho at Trinity Street Kitchen which had served up some seriously good Vietnamese food. Having heard that there were some new stalls on offer in the gleaming food market we met up with Jenny & Hattie to go and line our stomachs before the evening ahead.

The number one pre- night out meal?
A damn good burger of course!

I've seen them on Twitter, I've drooled over their Instagram and finally I was at the Original Fry Up Materials' campervan.
I was a happy birthday girl!

The rather charming gents running the stall obviously caught on to our infectious smiles and before we knew it, we were joking around and donning the famous bow ties ourselves!

A possible career path for Jenny & myself?

The menu was drool worthy.
Breakfast for dinner or a beefy burger?!
First world problems I know.
It was a hard call.

The banterous burger chaps helped us narrow down the menu and even very generously gave me some hash browns for free as a birthday present. (It's the small things in life after all!)

The four of us snuggled down in the multi-coloured seats near the window, eagerly watching the burgers being crafted in the corner of our eyes and laughed about the antics that would inevitably ensue later on that evening.

5 minutes later, Anna returned with this b.e.a...utiful sight.

Free hash browns and red roses?!
The gents at the Original Fry Up Material had already won me over, burger aside.

But the burger.
Oh. My. God. The burger.
Jenny & I went for the Sweet Smoke: honey mustard glaze, whiskey cured bacon & smoked applewood cheese.
It was mouth-wateringly incredible. I've had a few burgers in my (now) twenty years and this was definitely a top notch job.
The burger sauce especially was second to none; if they could bottle some up for me I would smother it on everything in sight.
Hattie went for the blue cheese & Anna the cheesy. From their reactions both of them were just as chuffed with their choices as all of the conversation was replaced with silence until every last crumb was demolished.
Catch ups could wait, the burgers in front of our eyes were definitely our first port of call!

Big thanks to the Original Fry Up Material crew. Your burgers are jaw dropping and your charm exemplary. If anyone fancies a treat whilst around the city centre, hit up their stall, you definitely won't be disappointed!

After trekking through the rain to get back to our house, we scoffed a few cupcakes or two from the Love Rouge Bakery before getting ready for the Fruity Friday night ahead.

The beautiful Anna bought me some Moet to pop open in celebration. I couldn't think of a better way to begin my birthday night out!

It was a little bit like a small school reunion and brilliant to have some of my older friends up north with me on my special day.
We danced the night away and finally fell asleep in the early hours of the morning having scoffed some fondant fancies as a 5am snack.
It was such an incredible birthday. I couldn't have asked for a better day and a big thank you to everyone who wished me well and made it as special as it was.

My Dad might be slightly upset that he no longer has any teenagers to look after, but hitting the big 2-0 certainly is a plus in my books.

In fact, I'm already looking forward to the big 21st... Just 363 days to go!
