Byron Burger, Leeds

I saw a tweet a few months back which put a beaming smile onto my pale & freckly face.
The beauty that is Byron Burger was finally opening up it's doors in Leeds.
My favourite burger joint in my favourite city? Ahh... It was just like Christmas!

I drove back up north this weekend to take out some books out from the university library (ohh the joys of the looming 3rd year dissertation..), but on the way back, I stopped off for some lunch with my friend Immy
Since Byron opened only 10 days ago, it would be rude not be take a look at their shiny new baby...

The sun was shining and luckily we managed to blag a window seat during their busy Saturday lunch time slot. With open windows onto one of the main Leeds highstreets, people watching the bustling crowds was premium entertainment.

Immy & I caught up on work experience, summer plans & 21st shenanigans before settling on the menu choices. Even though I was tempted to try their 'Ronaldo' burger special, (two 6oz hamburgers, crispy smoked bacon, American cheese, buttered onions, crispy fried onions, pickles, American mustard and ketchup)... I refrained. After all, you can never go wrong with a classic.

"Oh heyyyy there burger..."

For anyone that has been living under a rock and has not heard of Byron before, here is a little insight. In the words of Byron themselves, they "do a simple thing well, and do it properly." Their burgers are all well sourced from Scotland, they are minced fresh and cooked medium so that they are still pink, juicy and succulent. They are served in a soft, squishy brioche bun with minimum fuss and fanfare and adapted to suit. Aka...Consistently delicious, good quality and well priced food.
Perfect.

Immy chose their classic cheeseburger filled with oozing American Monteray Jack cheese, I chose their classic burger with the slight addiction of roasted red peppers and we both shared their crispy courgette fries.

The first bite is always the best bit.

And yes, for most of the meal I had ketchup and beef juices dribbling down my chin....

"And what of it?!"

No no Byron, thank you for opening up in Leeds. I was tired of having to wait until visiting London or Cambridge for a nibble on your courgette fries and beefy buns.
Simply put, the perfect weekend lunch catch up over some cracking food and in my favourite city.
Bliss.

See you later Byron, it won't be long until I'm back, (probably because your monthly specials always have me drooling....)
If you haven't already checked out Byron (you crazy, crazy person!), then please do. They are in quite a few spots across England so should be pretty easy to find.
You can thank me after that first, beautiful bite....
