Life Lessons

Well, I think an apology is due.

I'm sorry dear readers, I haven't blogged in what feels like an entity.

I've not going to use the pathetic excuse of 'not having enough time' and being swamped under with third year uni work, even though I have been basically  living in the library for the last two weeks. (Shoot me now.)

But, the truth is, I had a severe case of writers block. I was uninspired, lacking any idea of what exactly to blog about and, to be honest, didn't want to put the time in because I just wasn't excited about what I would be posting. I know writers blocks are common for bloggers and blah, blah, blah.... But, I didn't want to force myself out of it. It's almost like baking a cake (trust me to use this analogy), take it out too early and its a mess, wait too long and its just ruined.

So, here I am.

I've literally just walked out of the library for my lunch break and, details aside, something/someone just inspired me...It's stoked the fires within my stomach, got the cogs winding in my head, and has set in motion a multitude of blog posts that I now have to somehow plan into my schedule. (It's already crammed full of essay deadlines, dissertation research, job hunting, and my seriously in-need-of-help social life.)

I'll get back on the baking, lifestyle sort of posts ASAP but here it is, what has inspired me to hit up the key board again on a bit of a typing rampage...

Life Lessons that I've learnt this week:

--- "Never make somebody a priority that to you is only an option." Maya Angelou ---

---  It doesn't matter who it is, what the situation is, or when it is... Never, ever, let anyone else make you feel inferior. ---

--- Appreciate your family. Don't wait until a member is threatened for you to truly realise their value and significance in your life. ---

--- Just because someone desires you, does not mean that they appreciate or value you. ---

--- There is no shame in wishing, wanting, trying, and failing. ---

Anyone else learnt any life lessons this week??

  1. Aw, so glad to have you back on my feed! An old couple I sat next to on the train today told me to follow my dreams as some's got to do the jobs I want to do and why shouldn't it be me. I thought this was really lovely :)

  4. Em I get writers block, like, alllllll the time. I really don't think blogging should be a chore though so I only ever blog when I really, really want to : which like you is when someone or something really sets something off in me!! :) I am intrigued about this one/thing that has managed to get you all fired up !! I'm just the same I think, but equally, when someone or something gets me down, properly, I can't blog at all. (Not because I can't write, but mostly because what's filling up 99% of my brain is not suitable for sharing).

If you are back for Christmas, please drop me an email and we can meet up for a coffee or a cocktail? Bar Milano is fab :) I know we said we'd meet before and I'm sorry I didn't get back to you ,but would love to say hello and swap stories about this year and basically not be a stranger! :)

  8. Ahhh Flora, I'm glad it isn't just me. It's just the time and effort that goes into a blog post, I'd rather be inspired than sit there forcing myself to write, the outcome is just never the same! A posts gotta' have passion! The first & penultimate 'lessons' are a good hint at what fired me up, sometimes it's something completely irrelevant to blogging but something which actually brings out emotion which makes me want to write... I'll explain it all over a coffee & a mince pie soon! I've never been to Bar Milano, I'm a Fine Foods gal, but I'm definitely up for trying somewhere new :) xx
