Leeds Food & Drink Festival Launch

Leeds is a growing hotspot of the north of England and it seems to be filled with an infinite number of foodies as of late, ( I know I had a gut feeling about the university for a reason!)
There's so much going on in the next few weeks that the diet just has to be thrown out of the window. On Thursday I was very kindly invited along to the press launch of the Leeds Food & Drink Festival at Epernay Bar in the city centre.

I took along my house mate Sophie, and the two of us were warmly greeted with some cocktails in the beautiful bar which was jam packed with press, bloggers & foodies alike.

After a cheeky bit of fizz, we headed over to Redbull who'd come along to promote their new flavoured drinks. I'm not usually a big fan of Redbull, but we of course listened to the confident barman who insisted that the new tropical flavour with some rum was the way forward.

And he was soooo right! Both Sophie & I are converted. Not too sweet but with a bright, tropical flavour. Redbull have utterly nailed that one!

But, of course, what's a few drinks without some delicious nibbles along side?
Well, the burger masters at nearby Almost Famous were on hand to whip up some drool worthy sliders for us all.
(Blog post on this brilliant restaurant later on this week!)

A couple of different flavours were flying around & the snap happy bloggers were shoving their cameras left, right and centre to get the best cheese melting shot.
(It's a blogger thing.)
Sophie & I managed to grab one of the pulled pork and slaw sliders and snuggled into some big, leather chairs to dig in.
Photos really do not do Almost Famous burgers justice!

With the rumbling stomachs solved, the two of us flicked through the programme for Leeds Food & Drink festival, picking out our key events and oohing/ahhing at the different options.
There is so much going on that they really have catered for everyone.
This year it is the festival's 10 year anniversary; it kick started on Thursday 22nd and culminates with the delicious Yorkshire Post Food & Drink Show on the 5th-7th June. (You can check out my post on the show last year too.)
Sophie & I are without a doubt going to try to make a few different events, but you can find the full programme here to see for yourselves. You won't regret popping by.

A big thank you to the staff for the invitation & hospitality as well as to Almost Famous & Epernay bar for the superb hosting. It was great fun & I also got to meet some other lovely Leeds bloggers at the same time, one of the big perks of blogging after all!
Hop on down to some of the events going on in Leeds if you can; it really is emerging as a food hub of the north which whilst I might love this notion, my jeans are not so forgiving.
